Welcome to the Pride Resilience Identity Yuendumu database

This searchable database presents documented evidence of sporting events and commentary about Yuendumu and is aimed to be a history resource for the Yuendumu community. While most items included are from 1940 to the 1970s, some later material is included. It does not claim to be complete or accurate, and is a work in progress. Names are entered as they were spelled in the original documents. The data was collected by Professor Murray Phillips, sport historian at The University of Queensland’s School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences, under a project funded by the Australian Research Council’s Discovery Project program.

Acknowledgments: We acknowledge the tribal laws and customs of the Warlpiri, Pintupi and Luritja people on whose lands we work, play and live. We also acknowledge the historical people of Yuendumu.
Reader Advice: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that this database contains the names and images of people who are deceased.
