This searchable database presents evidence of Woorabinda and Taroom sports, sporting events and sportspeople, and is aimed to be a history resource for the Woorabinda community. It focuses on the ‘Protection Era’, and most items included are from the 1920s to 1950s, however some later material is also included. It does not claim to be complete or accurate, and is a work in progress. Names are entered as they were spelled in the original documents. The data was collected by Dr Gary Osmond, sport historian at The University of Queensland’s School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences, under a project funded by the Australian Research Council’s Future Fellowship program and approved by the Woorabinda Council in 2018.
