Welcome to the Pride Resilience Identity Papunya database
This searchable database presents documented evidence of sporting events and commentary about Papunya and is aimed to be a history resource for the Papunya community. While most items included are from 1940 to the 1970s, some later material is included. It does not claim to be complete or accurate, and is a work in progress. Names are entered as they were spelled in the original documents. The data was collected by Professor Murray Phillips, sport historian at The University of Queensland’s School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences, under a project funded by the Australian Research Council’s Discovery Project program.
Using the database
The Browse link allows browsing by date, and the Search link lets you do an advanced search for specific filters such a sport, individual, year or keyword. The basic Search option (upper righthand corner), allows you to do a simple keyword search.
Each entry contains details such as the date, location, content, and a link to the original resource.
