This searchable database presents documented evidence of sporting events and commentary about Palm Island and is aimed to be a history resource for the Palm Island community. While it focuses on the ‘Protection Era’, and most items included are from the 1920s to the 1950s, some later material is included. It does not claim to be complete or accurate, and is a work in progress. Names are entered as they were spelled in the original documents. The data was collected by Dr Gary Osmond, sport historian at The University of Queensland’s School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences, under a project funded by the Australian Research Council’s Future Fellowship program.
